What are your deadlines for In-Person Document Search?

If everything goes according to plan, you should expect to wait about 2 weeks for your documents to be sent. We plan to visit the Comune, making sure that the Comune will be open on the day of the search, that the employee will be available, that the necessary forms have been filled out, that information about additional fees and payment of these fees has been made… We plan everything in advance to make sure that we will have your document on the day. But again, the functioning and operation of the Comune is beyond our control. Therefore, if we need to return, we will do so according to the conditions provided on the pricing page here on the website, and we will inform you of everything that the Comune has given us.

What are your deadlines for Traditional Document Search?

Generally, the deadline for delivery of the documents in your hands is 3 months. However, officially, the deadline we commit to is 6 to 8 months. This is from the date of your request until the delivery of your documents in your hands.
The guarantee we give you is that you do not pay anything until your document reaches our hands! Only then will we receive payment for the services provided.
We have always operated successfully this way because we have built these relationships of trust: you place the order, we provide you with the documents and the payments are made! Everything is very simple. Clear. Transparent. As it should be.

According to Italian law, the Comunes may request up to 6 months to deliver the requested documents. For any other request related to this type of process and documents in other instances, these deadlines are also generally applied. There are exceptional cases in which this deadline may be longer.

Thanks to a precise work schedule and hundreds of requests made, we have managed to reduce the average to 3 months, although this also depends on the work dynamics of each Comune, Town Hall, Diocese and Parish.

It is important to highlight that the reduction in time depends not only on our work, but also on the dynamics and demand of each Comune, Prefecture, Diocese and Parish.

You can expect to pay fees and contributions related to the services provided by the Comune (from €0 to €300), Diocese (usually €50, but can vary between €40 and €65) and Parish (it depends a lot, but usually from €0 to €50 in some cases). However, we will explain everything in the exchange of messages/emails and we will send you the financial proof as well.

What if the search doesn't work?

And it was because her grandmother's documents had been destroyed in a fire in the city! We offered alternative documents that could work for this case, but the client said that we could stop this search since we had also searched for her grandfather's documents and therefore, this situation would not cause any harm to the process of requesting recognition of Italian citizenship. However, without the search being successful, there is no charge for payment in the case of the Traditional Document Search.
In the case of In-Person Search, the 50% advance payment is not refundable as it covers the operational costs of the trip for the in-person search for the document in question.

What is the Hague Apostille? Do I need it?

Accepted Answer

To simplify, the document issued in Italy must be validated in order to be used outside of Italy. You will need to do so if you need to rectify Brazilian documents based on this Italian document and in other cases as well, but your lawyer or advisor will be the ones who will guide you. If you do not yet have these professionals, we can refer you to a professional from our trusted network of professionals in the world of Italian citizenship.
In my experience, when clients are unsure about this step, I advise clients to request an apostille.
This is because the logistics of the document already being in Brazil and then returning to Italy to be apostilled would be very expensive. It is easier to apostille the document while it is here in Italy to guarantee it. It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it, right?
